Ranipuram Hill Station

Written by

Ranipuram is one of the underrated tourist destinations of Malabar. Excellently beautiful. Almost 40 km away from Kanjangad. One has to trek almost 2.5 Kms/one to one and a half hour through dense forest grasslands and rocks before reaching the summit. From 8 AM – 5 PM Trekking is allowed by the forest department.

Don’t forget the camera, there is a lot to capture. To avoid the heat in the grass hills, it’s better to start in the morning time. There is a cave towards the end and a small stream on the way. Carry at least one bottle of water. There is KSRTC bus til the starting point from Kasargod and it returns at 4.30 pm from the point to Kasargod. Jeeps will be available, if not come by own vehicle.

Even though the place will be scenic in monsoon, leeches and wild animals will be a threat. Summer is risk-free, but sunny. Options for food is less nearby. KTDC and few private resort and home stays are available nearby. Very good place for trekkers and photographers.

Those who are very fond of longer treks, can arrange guides to trek from ranipuram to talacauvery after getting permits from Kerala and Karnataka forest divisions. Talacauvery is 30 Kms from this place.
